International Business Management & Directorships

For 19 years, I was a manager and director in the former Associated Engineering group, which supplied a variety of components for the automotive industry.

We operated a world-wide network of licensees in some 15 countries, including Japan, India, Turkey, Romania and the former Yugoslavia, along with the purchase and operation of subsidiaries. I lived for six years in Germany as the managing director of three engineering companies. In this, I benefited from my language-learning ability.

As a director on the boards of foreign companies, I acquired considerable experience in the business practices of different countries, and the methods for finding working practices applicable to more than one country.
